Gift claim and acceptance policy

Draft updated September 9, 2026

Receiving a Thoughtsent invitation does not obligate you to accept a gift or card, provide a delivery address, or create an account. This draft explains the intended claim process and the limits of the current sandbox service.

Check your invitation

Only respond to an invitation intended for you. Keep the claim link private because anyone with access to it may be able to view or respond to the invitation. If you are unsure who sent it or whether it is legitimate, do not enter personal information.

Choosing to accept

Acceptance records your response and the time of that response. Physical gifts and cards require delivery details before fulfillment; digital messages and gift cards may not require a postal address. Acceptance does not guarantee availability, successful payment, or delivery.

Providing delivery details authorizes their use to coordinate that gift or card with the relevant fulfillment providers. It is not consent to unrelated marketing. The privacy policy describes the information involved.

Surprises and sender identity

An invitation may hide the exact item or the sender's name based on sender preferences and gift type. You may decline rather than accept an unfamiliar gift. Digital message content may be visible when opening an invitation; opening a link and accepting a physical delivery are different actions.

Declining or reporting

You may decline without providing a delivery address, indicate that workplace policy prevents acceptance, or report an issue using the invitation controls. A report records a concern; it does not guarantee immediate human intervention. For an urgent safety issue, use appropriate local emergency or safety resources rather than relying on the application.

Senders may receive a status update about the response. Delivery addresses are not intended to be shared with the sender. Do not include sensitive information in any explanation you provide.

Expiration and one-time use

Invitations are currently created with a seven-day response window. The invitation's stored expiration time controls whether it is still valid. After expiration, request a new invitation rather than reusing the old link. Invitations are intended for one recipient and one final response.

Before launch, one-time response enforcement and expiration handling must be validated together with payment cancellation. Expiration does not itself confirm an authorization release or refund.

Delivery and payment consequences

Provide an accurate address and any necessary delivery instructions. Availability, delivery areas, and timing depend on the selected provider. A recipient is not asked to pay the sender's checkout charge merely to accept a gift or card.

Declined, reported, workplace-declined, or expired gifts should not enter fulfillment. Payment adjustments and cancellations must be confirmed with the payment provider. Provider-specific restrictions may apply after a gift card is issued or a physical item enters production.

Sandbox and launch readiness

Sandbox claims and vendor orders are tests only. Do not expect real delivery or a redeemable gift card from a sandbox transaction. Final contact details, support response procedures, and production payment and fulfillment behavior must be confirmed before this policy is used for live orders.
